Director of the Sydney SEA Centre, University of Sydney. Professor Michele Ford is Director of the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre and an ARC Future Fellow. Her research focuses on Southeast Asian labour movements, labour migration and trade union aid. Michele’s work has been supported by a number of Australian Research Council Discovery Project grants related to these and other topics. She has also been involved in extensive consultancy work for the ILO, the international labour movement and the Australian government. Michele has a strong record of disciplinary service. In addition to sitting on the ARC College of Experts from 2015 to 2017, she has served as Secretary of the Asian Studies Association of Australia (2006-11), President of the Indonesia Council (2005-10), NSW representative on the ACICIS Reference Group (2006-11), University of Sydney representative on the Australian Universities Governing Committee of the Aceh Research Training Institute (2006-08) and member of the ANU’s Indonesia Project Advisory Board (2006-17). She was also first Secretary and then Chair of the Board of IRIP, the organisation that publishesInside Indonesia, where she also served many years as Coordinating Editor alongside Professor Edward Aspinall. She continues to sit on the Advisory Board of the Australia Indonesia Youth Association and the International Advisory Board of the Asia Research Institute at the National University of Singapore.
